What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care is a growing type of primary care practice in the US. The definition of Direct Care is a practice that is paid by monthly membership fee instead of paying for office visits and other services separately. We do not accept or bill insurance.
Trivas Family Medicine does not charge co-pays or fees for visits or have visit limits for members.
The medical care provided in the office is no different than you get at other primary care clinics, though our visits are longer without rushing you out the door before all your questions are answered.
When you have a membership in a Direct Care clinic, we are still watching out for your health when you are not in the office.
Direct Care is not health insurance. We do not provide hospital care, although we will work with your hospital team if needed. We also do not provide emergency room care or specialty care. We strongly encourage all members to have insurance coverage for medications, extensive lab testing, radiology, and catastrophic care. We will assist you in making the best use of the insurance coverage you have.
Benefits of a Membership Model:
Reaching out to you to follow up on plans we have made at visits. This may include new medications, smoking cessation, nutrition changes, vaccines, or other details of your care. This level of accountability and support brings about change!
A firm belief that your time is important. When clinically appropriate, it can be more manageable for your life to follow up by telephone, email, or video instead of coming in to the office.
Personalized contact from the provider with results and discussion of a plan based on those results without necessarily having to make a follow-up office visit.
Coordination of care between different specialists. With your permission, I can make contact with specialists to ensure we are all working toward the same goals for your health with clear communication to all members of the team.

There is no registration fee, but we ask that you make a 3 month pre-payment at initial enrollment.

Can I try out the care without committing to a membership?
Yes! A single visit with a fee of $200 is possible for acute medical needs.
In addition, a brief phone or in-person 'Meet and Greet' appointment is available at no cost so that you can have a time to find out if this is an appropriate model of care for you or your family. No medical care will be provided at these visits, but much information can be conveyed and questions answered.
