Why Trivas is Different
Trivas Family Medicine is the Direct Primary Care practice of Dr. Courtney Johnson, providing comprehensive primary care to individuals and families in the office and out of the office.
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care is a growing type of primary care practice in the US. The definition of Direct Primary Care is a practice that is paid by monthly membership fee instead of paying for office visits and other services separately. We do not accept or bill insurance. Trivas Family Medicine does not charge co-pays or fees for visits or have visit limits* for members. The medical care provided in the office is no different than you get at other primary care clinics, though our visits are longer without rushing you out the door before all your questions are answered. The main benefit of a membership over paying for visits is that we are still watching out for your health when you are not in the office. Examples include:
- Personalized contact from the provider with results and discussion of a plan based on those results without necessarily having to make a followup office visit.
- Reaching out to you to follow up on plans we have made at visits. This may include smoking, nutrition changes, vaccines, or other details of your care. This level of accountability and support brings about change!
- Reaching out to you to make sure you are getting all the preventive care you need. We believe that the best way to care for you is to achieve and maintain excellent overall health and then respond to conditions before they become serious.
- A firm belief that your time is important. When clinically appropriate it can be more manageable for your life to follow up by telephone, email, or video instead of coming in to the office.
- Coordination of care between different specialists, including holistic care providers or counselors. With your permission, I can make contact with specialists to make sure we are all working toward the same goals for your health with clear communication to all members of the team.
- Easy access to your provider
- Same day/next day appointments
- Occasional home visits when needed
